The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) looked to develop a suite of online courses to enhance the financial literacy skills of Bank staff and Bank Directors. In support of this effort, IBRD selected ILS to research and design the course, “Introduction to Derivatives.”
ILS worked closely with IBRD subject matter experts to define course objectives, architecture, and content. ILS developed detailed storyboards and worked closely with the Bank’s offshore developer throughout the production process.
The resulting interactive multimedia training provides IBRD users with the basic concepts of financial derivatives and discusses how IBRD uses derivatives to lower borrowing costs, enhance investment returns, and manage financial risk. The course also touches on the evolving accounting standards and their impact on reporting derivatives on the Bank’s financial statements.
